ARE YOU A PUPPY MILL?
BITS OF INFORMATION THAT MATTER
Thursday 3rd of April 2008 07:58:02 AM

When someone buys a pup it's normal to be nervous

it's like taking your car in to get someone you don't know to give it service

it's like taking your child to the babysitter for the first time

you don't really know that person but have been told by references it will be fine

it's like when a new baby is born and the nurses whisk it off to count it's fingers and toes

it's like sitting in a huge company meeting and needing to blow your nose

no just teasing but it rhymed

the point is buying a new puppy seems overwhelming and it takes so much time

i'm going to give you some pointers here from the guy at the other end of the line

first of all look at the person , and think would i pick them for a friend?

if you go to see puppies someplace and the people don't seem nice

that would be the first indication to me i'd have to think twice

is it clean and picked up and calm and controlled

these are the things that matter when you look for a pup to hold

all these big websites that say ask to see the parents

if every married person saw the other person's parents first

the marriage may have never have happened and that could have been the worst

you have to get to know the person and you meet the parents later

and alot of times man you think i'm glad she's not like her mother:)

the person who is selling puppies if they are doing it right

has a nice place for you to see the pups and protect the parents in their own right

alot of times a mama dog doesn't want to be brought out to meet you

it makes her nervous and she doesn't really feel like she needs to greet you

why???? because you have come to see and hold her pup

when it's time the mama dog is ready to let them go but until then she doesn't want to

give them up

especially to you someone that she has never met

did you bring references with you have you ever owned a pet?

she you see is a professional and so to me this she must trust

when i come take her pup and show it to you she knows that i must

believe you are going to take good care of it when you leave here as you say you are

and then you take the pup and go in your car

and when i go back and talk to the mama dog there may or may not be others

that she still has left with her until someone comes for another

even if they are weaned you see she still gets to see them

there are big play areas and mom lets them know when she is not going to feed them

she rolls them over to the food bowl and lets them know it is time

to stand on their own and eat the dry food their nursing with her is done

i tell her that one more has gone and it will be okay

she looks at me and trusts me and believes what i say

the mama dogs here are cared for very very well

i'm sure there are some places they are not and you can surely tell

when you go somewhere is that a place i want to leave my child?

buying a pup is about common sense it's just like if you go hunting in the wild

you have a guide that takes you and shows you what  to do

if he takes you out on the lake and leaves you in a canoe

you somehow find your way back we hope and say man that guy was a nut

it's the same thing when you go and try to find a pup

you need to feel comfortable with the person you are buying it from

a huge list of information gathered can tend to confuse some

and if you are buying from far away and can't come to the place

then you need to get on the phone with that person and talk like you were face to face

all over the world in everyplace there is good and bad

where bad occurs and especially if it's kids or dogs it is really sad

and if i could go into all those places and fix the bad i would

but someday i'll tell god when i see him i did the best i could

to care for my dogs the way i thought that i really should

and remember in the bible god does say "vengeance is mine"

and anyone who abuses a kid or a dog i believe in due time

will pay for anything bad they have done and it might not be today

so rest assured all the mistreated kids and dogs in the world will see justice someday
